Gavalochori is a traditional Cretan village located in the region of Apokoronas, about 3 km inland from the seaside village of Almyrida. Its location is 25 km east of Chania and takes about 20 minutes by car along the National Highway. Gavalochori is an old historical village with about 500 inhabitants that has preserved its color and way of life. Several family taverns offer the visitor delicious dishes of Cretan cuisine. Near the small square of the village and within walking distance from the villa there is a cafe, bakery, mini market, two taverns and the Folk Art Museum. The surrounding area has many beautiful nature trails for walking or cycling that lead either to the sea or to the White Mountains. The seaside village of Almyrida is less than 10 minutes away by car.
